Abstract
Gender equity and spatial justice are critically underexplored dimensions within energy studies, particularly in the Global South. Building on extensive field research from both affluent neighbourhoods and low-income areas in Pakistan, this talk aims to unpack the intricate ways in which energy consumption and spatial dynamics are gendered across domestic settings, open/public spaces, and workplaces. The research presented reveals the multifaceted impact of infrastructural deficiencies and gendered disparities on women in diverse roles, making the case for gender-responsive and intersectional approaches to achieve sustainable and equitable energy transitions.
