This session introduces the value of moving beyond talk and self-disclosure by using creative methods for researching students, staff and practices in higher education. We will first introduce some key research studies and general principles for using and analysing creative research methods. We will follow this with examples of using photo voice, diaries and collage, with opportunities to try these out.
By attending this session, you will:
- Understand the general purpose and value of using creative methods in higher education research
- Know how these methods work in practice in relation to using photo voice, diaries and collage.
- Practice using creative methods with fellow workshop participants and reflect on the opportunities and challenges they might present for thinking about your own research and scholarship.
