AI Project Proposal
Module 984G5
Module details for 2024/25.
15 credits
FHEQ Level 7 (Masters)
Module Outline
This module involves students constructing and presenting a proposal for a complex research problem within the domain of artificial intelligence. This module provides the opportunity to develop a creative project plan for an AI-related challenge that has a high-level of complexity, which should either lead to theoretical contributions to a subfield of AI or employ advanced AI methods to address interdisciplinary or industrial problems. A suitable primary technical supervisor will be identified to provide advice on the student’s direction and progress. Throughout this module students will develop a detailed strategy for how their specific problem will be studied and provide details of appropriate techniques and feasible resources that can be used to address the problem. This proposal forms the basis of the main dissertation project.
Module learning outcomes
Integrate knowledge from various sources to form a view of a research problem and/or as a basis for developing a solution to a research problem.
Evaluate and critique current research and advanced scholarship in the discipline in order to inform the proposal.
Propose a substantial research project, identifying feasible required resources, estimate effort and plan for unexpected contingencies.
