Troubleshooting Panopto in Teaching Spaces


To improve the reliability of using PowerPoint with Panopto, please follow these steps rather than use the PowerPoint tab within Panopto: 

1. Launch Panopto. 

2. Check that you are signed in to the OneDrive app. 

3. Open your PowerPoint file independently of Panopto (for example by downloading a PowerPoint file from Canvas or by opening the PowerPoint app on the desktop) 

4. In the Panopto app, start the recording. Panopto will record the desktop screen, which will include the PowerPoint slides when they are visible on screen.

My recording didn't upload to my Canvas Module?

If you made a recording but it hasn't uploaded to your canvas module please raise a ticket through the and provide the following information: 

- Course module

- Room / Theatre name

- Date and time of recording.

 

How do I fix a 'Data Pipeline' error message?

This fix requires a computer restart.

1. Click the Windows icon.

2. Click on your name and select Sign out. 

3. Once signed out, click the power icon in the bottom-right corner and select Restart.

4. If the error persists please contact the IT Service Desk.

 

How do I ensure my Panopto recording is capturing audio?

Once Panopto has launched and before starting the recording, test the microphone levels by making sure the green audio bar moves up when speaking as it is preconfigured.

If you do not see the audio bar move adjust the levels by clicking and dragging the slide bar.

If you still have no movement from the microphone levels then:

1. Select the correct in-room audio input from the Audio dropdown list under ‘Primary Sources’.

2. Audio device varies depending on room configuration.

3. If 'Audio' is set to 'None' then choose - 'Microphone (___audio device)'.

4. Test the mic by making sure the green audio bar moves when speaking.

5. If the bar doesn't move, first check the slide bar, then select a different mic input if required and retest.
