Can I find out the total amount of space used by the files in a folder?


Windows PC

You can find the size of a particular folder (including its contents and the contents of its subfolders) as follows:

  • From the Start menu, click on Computer
  • Navigate to the folder you want to size
  • Right-click on the folder name and from the menu displayed select the Properties option
  • The total disk space used by that directory is shown under the heading General.

Mac OS X

You can find the size of a particular folder (including its contents and the contents of its subfolders) as follows:

  • Browse to the folder you want to size using the Finder.
  • Ctrl-click on the folder name and from the menu displayed select the Get Info option
  • The total disk space used by that directory is shown under the heading General
