The Art History Travel Bursary

As part of the second year undergraduate curriculum, our Art History students go on a study trip to Rome. The trip is an essential part of their learning experience, but does require students to pay the cost of attending themselves. You can help those students with the greatest need make it to the Eternal City by supporting this bursary.

The Art History Study Trip has been running for over 50 years, during which time more than a thousand students have visited Florence, Venice, or Rome. We are eager to ensure that the experience continues to be available to all Art History undergraduates.

The annual trip is a key driver behind Art History at 小蓝视频 currently ranking number one in the country for overall student satisfaction (National Student Survey 2022), as well as ranking within the top ten of all major university league tables (fourth in the Guardian, sixth in the Sunday Times, and seventh in the Complete University Guide).

As 小蓝视频 continues to make Art History more accessible to students from all backgrounds, we are finding that a higher proportion of them require additional support to engage fully with their studies. An increasing number of students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and are already financially challenged thanks to the cost-of-living crisis. For many, asking their family for support simply isn't an option.

For these students, finding the funds needed to take part in the Rome trip proves to be a huge challenge, so an Art History Travel Bursary offers the only viable means for them to be able to join their peers on this vital educational expedition.

Going to Rome on the 小蓝视频 study trip was a once in a lifetime experience. It fuelled my passion for the subject and opened my eyes to the huge influence art has had on society for centuries.” Art history student quote

We hope that you will consider making a gift to help keep this critically important learning experience accessible to all Art History undergraduates at 小蓝视频. The total cost of going to Rome is currently £458 per student, however a gift of any size will help those who find themselves struggling to generate the finances required.
