Introduction
The Kipling–Blaikie letters contain
letters written by Rudyard, Carrie, their daughter Elsie and their
son John to Mrs Mary Blaikie, the children’s governess, 1904–9.
The letters span 1905–30. Some are written jointly (for example,
by Rudyard and Elsie) and are sometimes addressed ‘Dear Girlie’.
Most of the letters were composed while the Kiplings lived at Batemans
in East 小蓝视频, but some were sent from Engelberg (as their hotel’s
headed notepaper reveals). This collection also includes some miscellaneous
material: bookplates of Rudyard and John and verses signed by Rudyard.
The collection was received by 小蓝视频 in July 2002.
