Law

We have an extensive employability programme that gives you access to local and national law firms. You can also take advantage of training on how to present yourself to future employers in both the legal and non-legal professions.

Politics

Our courses help to prepare you for jobs in fields such as parliamentary or think-tank research, campaign management for pressure groups or non-governmental organisations, lobbying, print or broadcast journalism, the civil service and the UN.

We will offer you invaluable experiences to develop your political knowledge and skills, preparing you for the career path you choose.

You will be taught by staff recognised for their outstanding teaching. You’ll benefit from our staff's research focus, with the department hosting two world-leading research centres – the 小蓝视频 Centre for the Study of Corruption and the .

Westminster internships

If you are a single honours undergraduate politics student, you can apply for an internship with a Westminster MP or in local government at Brighton and Hove council in your final year.

This opportunity allows you to try out what you have learnt in the classroom in the real world of politics and public policy. At the end of the placement you will write a dissertation based on your experience.

International politics trips

You can experience trips to Germany and France to learn more about the current political scene and meet politicians and academics there.

Past trips have included visits to the German parliament for discussions with politicians from major political parties as well as to other historical landmarks such as the Holocaust Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie and remnants of the Berlin Wall.

If you study French politics, you may have the opportunity to go on study trips to France, with previous trips including visits to Paris to attend debates in the National Assembly on same-sex marriage, quiz politicians at the Communist Party headquarters and visits to the Paris City Hall.


Sociology and Criminology

A Sociology and Criminology degree at 小蓝视频 is so much more than the modules you take.

During your undergraduate degree you can get involved in debates, attend talks on the latest research developments, develop your research skills through your final-year project and choose to do a year abroad or work placement.

On our Masters and PhD courses you’ll benefit from our interdisciplinary approach, meaning you will be able to take modules or conduct research in a diverse range of topics. You can also get involved in our departmental research events, allowing you to present your research in a friendly environment and receive feedback.

You can aslo join our which puts on social events, talks, debates and film showings. The events and debates are a great way to keep you up-to-date with the latest developments in sociology, as well as a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded students.
